College of Engineering Honors Program: Winter 2017 - Present
-
Dean’s Honors: Fall 2015 – Spring 2016, Winter 2017
Work Experience
UCSB College of Engineering Machine Shop, Student Assistant (September 2015 – present)
-
Assist machinists with machining jobs and special projects. Keep the machine shop clean and organized. Answer questions for students who are taking the machine shop class.
Sacramento State Aquatic Center, Youth Instructor, Front Office Assistant, Facilities (June 2016 – September 2016)
-
Supervised boating and water safety camps and team building groups, repaired and kept equipment in working order, and gained extensive, in-person customer service experience helping customers rent equipment and answering questions about various programs offered at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center.
Projects
Hyperloop, UCSB (February 2017 – Present)
-
Joined the UCSB Hyperloop team last winter to prepare their pod for the Hyperloop competition being held by SpaceX this August. Currently helping machine various parts for the pod and test systems. Working with structures team to design and build a short segment of test track that will allow the team to test various subsystems simultaneously.
Formula SAE, UCSB (February 2017 – Present)
-
Working with a group of mechanical and electrical engineers to design and manufacture a vehicle for the 2018 Formula SAE competition. Team is currently in the research and design phase of the project. As Suspension Team Lead, I am collaborating with multiple engineers to design components for the car’s suspension system, directing team members in their research, and working with chassis, braking, and steering teams to integrate various subsystems of the vehicle.
Dancing Robot Project, UCSB (March 2016 – June 2016)
-
Worked with four other engineering students to design and assemble a robot that performed a synchronized dance to a song as a final project for an engineering design class. Utilized SolidWorks to build a complete 3D model of our design before assembly. Robot was one of three to be bought back by the school to showcase to future students.
Engineering Proposal, UCSB (March 2016 – June 2016)
-
Collaborated with three other engineering students to design a consumer product – a safer football helmet. Developed a written proposal along with an oral presentation which included an overview of helmet design, materials research, cost assessment, marketing plan, and potential health risks associated with the design.
Shell Eco Marathon, Granite Bay HS Design and Engineering Club (September 2014 – April 2015)
-
Designed and built a small ethanol-powered car for a competition in Detroit against other high schools and universities. Objective was to produce a car that was reliable and as fuel-efficient as possible. Finished second in our division and won a cash prize for our high school.
